INVITATION – Launch of Strategic Plan 2011 – 2014

(25th November 11)  Sport plays a huge part in the lives of many people in Donegal and this again will be highlighted in a special event in which Mr John Treacy, Chief Executive Officer of the Irish Sports Council together with Minister of State Dinny McGinley will be the guests of honour for a special sports event in the Aura Leisure Centre, Letterkenny on the 2nd December commencing at 7:00pm.   The former Olympian will be in Donegal to support Donegal Sports Partnership in celebrating their 10th Anniversary and to launch ‘Active Donegal 2011 – 2014’ which is the company’s new strategic plan.

Halloween – Safety Tips

(21st October 11) Halloween is upon us again with street festivals and fancy dress parties.  Whilst these events are very enjoyable, alcohol can at times spoil the party.  We have put together some useful safety tips for Parents, Children and Vintners to ensure that everyone has a safe and memorable Halloween.

Street Handball

(21st October 11)  The Olympic Handball Association (IOHA) will be hosting a two day seminar and taster day session for Teachers from County Donegal in Letterkenny 17th Nov and Inver (outside Donegal Town) 18th Nov 2011.

Olympic Handball has been played in Ireland since the 1970’s and is a popular sport with both children and adults. The IOHA is now establishing a modified version of the game called Street Handball.  This can be viewed at www.streethandball.org.

 The IOHA would like to help and support schools that wish to introduce/develop Olympic Handball or Street Handball. Interested schools should contact:  Lisa Regan,  Development Officer at (01) 6251165 or at development@olympichandball.org.

Club Development 2011

(17th October 11)  The Donegal Sports Partnership wish to announce the 2011 Club Development Grants.  Application Form (including Terms & Conditions) can be downloaded from the link Club Development Grant 2011 on the left or click here.  Hard copies may also be collected from the office or posted on receipt of an A4 Self Addressed Envelope with attached €0.95 stamp.

New fleetFEET Programme

(03rd October 11)  Donegal Sports Partnership are again launching the very successful fleetFEET walking fitness programme, suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness.  Now taking booking in Letterkenny and Ramelton, further venues can be added by contacting the Donegal Sports Partnership on 074 9116078/9 or email: info@activedonegal.com

Cycling Ireland – Foundation Coaching Course

(3rd October 11) Cycling Ireland are holding a foundation coaching course on on Saturday 22nd October in Letterkenny (venue to be confirmed), start time is 9:00am and will finish around 5:00pm.
