Donegal Sports Partnership to host 4 Walks for Operation Transformation Nationals Walks Day 2018!

Operation Transformation’s 2018 National Walks Day will take place on the 13th January. To kick start the New Year, the organisers of the popular TV series will once again team up with Sport Ireland and the network of local Sports Partnerships to host over 70 walks across the country! With improved access and ongoing developments to local routes and trails, recreational walking continues to be one of the fastest growing, popular and easiest forms of physical activity.

In Donegal, the Local Sports Partnership, with the support of walking leaders in the community, will host 4 walks in the following area’s;

Killybegs, Stranorlar, Rosnakill (Fanad) & Letterkenny (see poster for details)

DSP are inviting every member of the community to come out and celebrate National Walks Day in their respective communities. People of all ages, abilities and fitness levels are welcome on the day; the walks will be led by fully qualified Irish Heart Foundation Walking Leaders and the total distance will be between 3 & 5 km!

Locally, Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure is gearing up to run their very own Operation Transformation – with 4 leaders identified (Chef Martin Anderson, Dunfanaghy woman Amanda Witherow, Glenswilly native Aisling McDaid and Letterkenny man Benny Sweeney), the programme will get underway on Monday 8th January and will follow the National OT programme. The Letterkenny Walk will coincide with week 1 of MMS Operation Transformation, so come along and support the 4 leaders along with their friends & family!
